Nexus 9 to feature 64-bit Tegra K1 Processor clocked at 2.5GHz with 192-Core Kepler GPU

There have been many leaks that a HTC manufactured Google Nexus tablet with a 8.9-ich screen isn’t too far away. Now a new source has revealed the expected processing power of the rumoured next Nexus tablet. A leaked CPU-Z screenshot by TKtechnews, claims that the Nexus tablet will be powered by a 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, fixed at clock speeds up to 2.5GHz and paired with 192-core Kepler graphics unit. Upleaks has previously reported the Nexus 9 is rumoured to be using a 64-bit Tegra processor and is likely to integrate 4GB RAM. Nvidia stated that Tegra K1 is the first SoC to support the new kepler[Read More...]

Rumour: Nexus X appears in Antutu

Rumour: Nexus X appears in Antutu

A Motorola built Nexus phone has been on the wishlist of most Android fans for many years, the closest we’ve gotten so far was the Motorola ¨Droid¨ or Milestone as it was known outside the US, which launched Android 2.0, which was quickly updated to 2.1 – and the Motorola Xoom, which launched Android’s first true foray into tablets. The rumour of a Nexus X, has come to the fore in the last few days thanks to TK TechNews – a leaker who has received backing from famed former internet leaker Evan Blass, the man behind @evleaks. We’ve seen a[Read More...]

Samsung, too, considering a circular smartwatch

Samsung, too, considering a circular smartwatch

While the first round of smartwatches were square, and not the most appealing visually, it seems the thirst is now for the round smartwatch. Moto 360 is the first one that we’re likely to see, but others too are jumping on board. LG has a rumoured round watch in the works, and it seems that Samsung is keen on the idea as well. SamMobile has published the news, but there’s (unsurprisingly) very little detail to go with. All we’ve got is that the product is under development, and while it won’t launch alongside the Note 4 and other Gear devices on[Read More...]

Rumour: Next Nexus phone to be called Nexus X

Rumour: Next Nexus phone to be called Nexus X

Nexus release time means you have to carry a large grain of salt at all times, so with that in mind, here we go. Leaker @TKTechNews, famous for initially leaking the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, is reporting this morning that the upcoming Motorola Nexus phone will be called the Nexus X – model # XT1100. TK has provided the above screenshot from the website Fnac, an international entertainment retailer, which he’s using for proof of this assertion. A search of the Fnac website, brings up no results for Nexus X or XT1100 – meaning that the page was either pulled,[Read More...]

HTC Nexus tablet certified by the WiFi Alliance

HTC Nexus tablet certified by the WiFi Alliance

The much rumoured HTC Nexus tablet – codenamed ‘Volantis’ or ‘Flounder’ – is very much anticipated after Google let the 1-year release window for their Nexus 7 line slide without any new announcements. The tablet has apparently quietly slipped through the WiFi Alliance – the certification body for WiFi capable devices – earlier this month. It’s an AOSP, Android L device, which is a great sign that this is indeed a Nexus device, with Google traditionally releasing a reference device for each new software platform. The listing, as you can see, also uses the fishy ‘Flounder’ code-name which Google traditionally[Read More...]

Sony looking to expand their ‘Compact’ brand to tablets

Sony looking to expand their ‘Compact’ brand to tablets

With the upcoming IFA tech conference in Berlin looming in just a couple of weeks, the leaks will be coming thick and fast. The latest leak from Sony – who are apparently set to announce an Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact at the show – is that they are looking to expand the Compact branding to their Xperia tablets, with an Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The leak comes courtesy of Sony themselves, in the form of support documentation for the Sony BSC10 Bluetooth speaker with charging dock. The support documentation for the dock includes a list of supported devices, which[Read More...]

Google to launch YouTube based music service: YouTube Music Key

Google to launch YouTube based music service: YouTube Music Key

Rumours surrounding a YouTube based music service have been circulating for some time, but it appears that the service could be almost ready to launch. Android Police have released a report which outlines the service, as well as plans to rebrand Google Play Music All Access. The new YouTube service will be called YouTube Music Key, a streaming service which will offer similar features to Google Play Music All Access, it will contain access to 20 million ad-free, “high-quality” tracks which will be able to be streamed, or downloaded for offline playback, though despite being on YouTube, it will be[Read More...]

Rumour: First Android Silver device to be the Nexus ’6′ released as Moto S on Verizon

Rumour: First Android Silver device to be the Nexus ’6′ released as Moto S on Verizon

Android Silver has been rumoured since the middle of the year, apparently slated to be a higher end version of the Nexus program sold through carriers and retailers. The Android Silver program was apparently being headed up by former Google Chief Business Officer, Nikesh Arora who recently left for Softbank and was apparently stalled as of the last ‘update’ on Silver, but according to TK Tech News, the program may not be dead, with the first Android Silver device to be the so-called Nexus ‘Shamu’ from Motorola, released as the Moto S. TK Tech News, run by former NHL player,[Read More...]

Motorola Moto X+1 drops past GFXBench and shows off its front plate

Motorola Moto X+1 drops past GFXBench and shows off its front plate

With an expected announcement early next month, it’s not going to be too long till we see what Motorola has done with the follow up to the Moto X, and also to find out if that Moto X+1 name is going to stay. Even with this looming announcement, we’re still keen for any tidbits of information on the upcoming phone, and today we have two. Overnight, the Moto X+1 was found in the GFXBench benchmark results, showing under the model # XT1097. The listing is interesting, and raises some questions, mainly to do with the processor, which is listed as[Read More...]

Google looks to make Hangouts less rubbish in Chrome with Ultra Violet

Google looks to make Hangouts less rubbish in Chrome with Ultra Violet

One of the most promising aspects of Google’s Hangouts chat service is its ubiquity. A client for Hangouts is available on Android and iOS, inside your Gmail in a desktop browser and even as a Chrome extension to break it out of the Gmail window. It’s that last one in particular on which that today’s rumour centres, and it’s a welcome one. Google’s Chrome extension for Hangouts isn’t generally well-regarded – anecdotally, it often brings with it excessive resource utilisation, to say nothing of some questionable UI decisions. Florian Kiersch reports (in German) that Google is testing a new Chrome[Read More...]

HTC to release 64-bit Android phone

HTC to release 64-bit Android phone

HTC has been putting much effort into producing their lower-cost Desire range of phones, with an eye to staunching the financial down turn of previous years where they concentrated on the more premium end of the market. But the Desire range could be the first series of phones in which HTC introduce the latest Qualcomm 64-bit processor, with leaker @upleaks advising a new HTC phone will be coming soon with a Snapdragon 410 processor. The phone, pictured above, will be going to Sprint in the US, but that’s just one variant, it’s always possible, indeed likely, that it could see[Read More...]

Rumour: The Galaxy Note 4 appears on Camera

Rumour: The Galaxy Note 4 appears on Camera

Move over blurry-cam, the Galaxy Note 4 appears to have made an early appearance in clear images that GSM Arena received from an anonymous tipster a short time ago. Having had my hands on a Galaxy Note 3 earlier today; the images appear to have a slightly more square edge around the bezel of the phone, the sides appear to be metallic (continuing Samsung’s move away from the light, plastic feel) and sticking with the familiar Samsung home button. The back of the device in the images also appears to be sticking with the faux leather rear of the device[Read More...]

HTC to release a tablet called the T1 – possibly the Volantis/Flounder

It never rains, but it pours, with no real news of the Nexus 9 (Volantis/Flounder) tablet for weeks and now two pieces of information in a day. Contender for the internet leaking crown, @upleaks, has released a few updates on a HTC T1 – which he believes to be the Nexus 9 – codenamed: Volantis/Flounder. @upleaks has released a number of tweets over the last couple of days, listing specs as well as proffering a release date of this month. The spec list reads very similar to what Android Police advised when they initially advised of the existence of the[Read More...]
